DCT Youth Theatre Productions
March 26 & 27 – 4:30 – 6:00 – Campus Theatre
The Emperor’s New Clothes
by Greg Atkins
Directed by Daniel Bryant-Gawne
For ages 8 to 18*. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and the director will hear monologues, if a student chooses to prepare one. Monologues are NOT required. Resumes and head shots are welcomed, but not required.
Rehearsals will begin March 28 and will be Mondays – Thursdays 4pm – 6:30pm at the POINTBank Black Box Theatre until May 14 when the company will move to the Campus Theatre and rehearsals will shift to evenings.
Performances – May 19 & 20 at Campus Theatre
Tuition – $225 for performers & $175 for Technicians
Tuition only paid once casting has been determined
*This play needs several male performers, ages 12-18.
Notes from the Director:
If a child is cast, tuition of $225 is expected regardless of role given. If a child is not cast, no fee is due. This is an excellent, free learning opportunity to get audition experience, so there is nothing to lose by giving it a try and, if cast, your child is in for a blast!
Auditions will consist of cold readings as well as some improvised movement. Please come dressed to move! If actors have prepared monologues, the director will hear them, but they are not required. Head shots and resume’s are welcome, but not required. No experience necessary, however children should have fluid reading aloud skills. So, practicing this skill beforehand is a good idea!
Teenagers ages 14-18 may register to be technicians for this production and learn the elements of backstage (lights, sound, sets, props, costumes) for a tuition rate of $175.
Copies of the script are available in the Campus Box Office for review, however, please keep your check out brief and bring it back quickly so others may have the chance to also read it. All scripts must be returned to the Campus Box Office before March 23!
The rehearsal and production schedule will be Mondays-Thursdays, 4:00-6:30pm at the Black Box Theatre, until the final week when we will shift to evening rehearsals (6pm-9pm) at The Campus Theatre. Performances will be May 19 (2pm and 7:30pm shows) and May 20 (2pm show).
